This is a basket made by the Quinnalt tribe. They lived on the Pacific Northwest Coast and their weave was similar to the Nootka and the Makah tribes. The basket is made from Cattail Leaves, Sea grass and Cedar strips. The colors came from natural dyes. They also used aniline dyes too and those would fade which is why alot of baskets seen now days only have color on the inside (that was kept out of the sunlight). This one is older, probably from around 1900. Enjoy the pics.
