I was inspired to post this vase by ABCDE who has posted a fantastic jack in the pulpit - see http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/59183-glass-vase-vintage-but-what
At first I thought they were possibly by the same maker. I am now leaning to the view that they are both British, but possibly not from the same area. My best bet on mine is that it was made in Stourbridge, between about 1880 and 1890. The seller thought it was Thomas Webb, which is possible, but these are notoriously difficult to attribute. There is a similar piece in the Stourbridge glass museum as unattributed, which makes me doubt mine can be pinned with any certainty on any particular maker - http://gorgeousglass.org.uk/collections/getrecord/DMUSE_BH3056/
The black you can see is dirt, not damage. Incredibly, and wonderfully, this has been used as a flower vase. I have yet to work out how to get it clean! The second picture shows the glow under UV light in broad daylight.

Thank you eye4beauty! I'm really struggling to find a picture that does it justice, so I may change photo 1 to a dark background.
      Thank you czechman, too!

Thank you czechman! I've tried various blacks, but the trouble is that the glow in the top is so strong you can't see the detail against black - it just shines. I think my brown bathroom tiles are the best compromise I can come up with for now!

And thank you also to Austrohungaro and MiKKoChristmas11 for the loves. Did you two pick those names to be difficult to type late at night, or am I just incompetent?!

I think this is John Walsh Walsh. I have just loaded a JWW vaseline vase and you will notice some similarities. They are the the way the stem is attached to the foot and the small clearer piece of glass just at the rim. I also have also seen other JWW pieces with kinks in the stem. Also I have both Whitefriars books and this design isn't in them, neither the 2 design features I have pointed out. JWW made this kind of glass from 1880-1910. I hope this helps.

I have just piled through my John Walsh Walsh book and although, there isn't an exact match there is a vaselin vase with a twisted stem like yours and there is an eperne with 3 trumpets with twisted stems like yours.
