This is an interesting corkscrew to say the least.
The advertising reads "J Gundlach & Co. San Francisco". This company is now named Gundlach-Bundschu Wine Company.
J. Gundlach & Co. was a winery that was founded in 1858 and still run today by it's family heirs. It's credited as being the oldest family owned winery in California.
As for the corkscrew itself, everything about it says Frary Patent! The hammer thingy, the spike, the shank, the bell. Frary, Frary, Frary!

I have one in the shape of a beer bottle. It is an anheuaser? Busch piece. on the side is the logo with the eagle emblem. The cork screw pops out of the bottle. Otherws sit upright like a bottle would.
Hi Fugs66, Yes, those beer bottles are called Roundlet type corkscrews. They were made by the Williamson Co. 1897-1920's. I believe there are over 60 different advertising plates documented amongst us corkscrew collectors. Obviously, the Anheuser Busch is the most common. I just sold my AB bottle roundlet today on eBay for $17.50. Cheers Tommy
