Certainly not vintage or antique but I'm posting this to acknowledge The boy who gave me this. As a minor collector of all things military I'm sure the whole neighborhood knows what I respond to and have kindly presented me with many things. However, a young man named Alex brought this hat to me the other day, just because he wanted me to have it. This is a private purchase cap, which was bought at the PX of the local base: Ft. Carson, Co.
For this I gave the young man some small metal airplanes which he seemed to be pleased with, but was not expecting.
This gives you an opportunity to update your profile image-- it would look much better with an Army hat!

The Navy cap denotes my chosen branch of service, the Army cap is more or less opportunistic.
I'm afraid I'd need less years, on this frame, to update my image.
Many years ago I fought tooth and nail with a Marine in a bar and proudly walked hand in hand with him into battle the next day. The U.S. Navy, By land, by sea, by air. I love the hat and the one on your head! Jimbo
Thank you Manikin, jimborasco, and BELLIN68, and you to scottvez for the loves and helpful comments.
Thanks petey
Waxing nostalgic, I look back on the time when I decided to join the Navy. It was 1967 and of course a lot of national unrest. I knew my number was coming, so I went to the Navy recruiter. I had lived around the Army and Air Force for quite a few years and had always found the Navy exotic (thanks to the recruitment posters).
Being still in my teens it had nothing to do with being afraid of combat because we would all live forever.
Now some of us will live on forever only in youth and some of us will pass as old men remembering the deeds of those young people who fought and died before and after us.
Thank you everyone!
Hello, sir! Haven't seen you around lately. Hope this finds you well. miKKo
Thanks miKKo. The monitor on the 'puter went out and just now got a temporary replacement.
Thank you, sir. Good to hear from you! I was worried when I heard about the fires in your neck of the woods. I asked a friend with Red Cross Emergency Relief Services if disaster relief services in Colorado were sufficient, and she told me not to worry about you. I kept the Patriot from Colorado Springs in my prayers. Great to hear you're OK. miKKo
Thank you for your concern miKKo. The fires were about 15 miles from me, but we pray for all affected.
Thank you Marc112.
