Picked up this syrupy sweet keg last week on a BIN transaction. One of the many great things about CW is the ability for one to see cool items displayed by other members, and this helps when making decisions about adding similar pieces to one's own collection. This was the case here. I had seen TGBWC's fab 5 gal version previously. When I ran across this 10 gal measuring 15"x21", I knew I had to make a serious run. Seller was a bit high on price based on Petretti's 11th, so I sent him a picture of the Petretti's 12th listing. Price came down some, but I still had to pay a premium. But I felt it was deserved (tap and plexi cover included, beautiful red finish, a little history written on end opposite label). When I received it yesterday, we could hear something rattling around inside. I and the kids spent a 1/2 hour finessing several "bonus" items through the small spigot hole. After trying tweezers, plastic forks, tooth picks as tools, it was duct tape wrapped sticky side out around my little finger that finally did the trick! I have to say, it was A LOT of fun. The kids were hooting and hollering every time a little treasure was extracted. Ah, the joys of collecting... :)
Great find Dave! Label's in really good shape.
Looks awesome Buddy, nice score!!
Thanks Gents!
Thanks Ray. Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by condition. The bonus items:
1) chain with "bean pod" or "ear of corn" charm, marked "Sel Pewter"
2) leather braided crop strap (I think, it has a metal attachment which looks to screw into the crop handle)
3)wooden ?handle?
4)2 nondescript chains
The original plug to the tap hole is in there, plus a die (as in dice), maybe to a kids game, doesn't look old. Maybe one other item in there needs to be identified. I didn't want to damage the keg so I quit after getting the big stuff out.
Thanks Michael, walksoftly, packrat, and mikie for viewing!
KEG PARTY at Dave's !!!!! Very nice indeed!!
Thanks Tom. I pledged Tappa Kegga Day in college!
