This is the pocketwatch Granddad carried. Waltham, 1883, 17 jewel. P.S. Bartlett. On the back of the watch is an engraving of a lighthouse and rocky seashore although difficult to make out, especially in a photo, as the gold has worn. Probably my favorite watch that was handed down to our family(wife and myself).

I love the 1883s... Yours was made in 1898. I have it's cousin ticking away in my pocket right now! http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/12333-waltham-pocket-watch?in=user You are missing a screw for the balance cock... I wouldn't try and wind it till you replace it. I have one I would gladly give you if you let me know how...

Hey toolate....The link you sent me a couple of weeks ago said 1883. http://www.nawcc-info.org/walthamdb/LookupSN.asp. My mistake. Your offer to give me that screw is really cool of you. Maybe we can figure something out. Many many thanks. Jim
