I purchased this ring at an estate sale. I have no info on it. Was just curious. It has 2 numbers then PLAT after that. It is all a silver color, it looks on here like part is gold but it isnt.It has like diamond chips or something all around it with 2 small red stones on the side. Any help or info will be greatly appreciated. Someone asked for different pics.I tried to zoom in my camera and through a magnifying glass at the same time. Its the best i can do sorry any further info will be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
What a lucky find! PLAT is a mark for the precious white metal, Platinum. The 2 numbers very likely refer to the purity of Platinum (percentage of platinum) in your ring, for example 85, 90, 95, 99. 950 is the most common mark for Platinum, which represents 95% pure platinum. These purity marks are along the same lines as Karat marks on gold, for example 14K or 585 is 58.5% pure gold. The red stones should be evaluated by a trusted jeweler since it is difficult to tell by a picture or by the naked eye. It may be a real or a synthetic/lab-created gemstone, perhaps even a ruby, which would greatly affect the value of your ring. The facets on the stone (the cut) are smoothed down, which means it was either worn a lot, and/or the stone is old. If the stone is a real ruby, for example, this would affect the aesthetic value, but not the intrinsic value of the gem.
Thanks for sharing your treasure!

thank you for your information but the picture does the ring no justice it is a beautiful ring and the stone looks worn down cause of the glare it is not though it has like etching design around most of the ring and bends around to underneath where it touches your finger it has almost no wear at alland if it is a ruby why would it ruin the value and what is aesthetic value
Aesthetically, many people prefer their stones to have crisp facets, they reflect the light better and give more sparkle.
ok davy thank you very much
Perhaps you can make a new photo through a magnifier. Than we can without a doubt better see this beautiful ring.
these pics are a little better i tried my best agram.m
ive been looking but i cant make it out but i mentioned 2 numbers then PLAT but it appears to be about 5 markings
then PLAT they are just to small for me to see even with a magnifying glass my eyes are bad
