This watch was given to my Great Aunt when she retired from the Kahler Corporation in 1949 so I have a general idea of its age (unless it sat in a Jewlers shop for years prior to being purchased). I would appreciate any other information I can get about it along what the worth might be. This watch was the only one she owned or wore from the day she received it until the day she died, when it too stopped working. The family was going to throw it away but thought I would enjoy it as I was her "name sake". I really don't think that they knew what they had.
The case and the lugs are solid and very heavy, measuring a bit over two inches between the ends of the lugs, the band is only about about 5 inches long. The band has a weak spot with the band cap missing. I would love to find another watch band from the era so I would feel safer wearing this beautiful watch.
Inside the case it says: 4206 ~ Case and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co ~ SCHWAB & WUISCHPARD ~14K Gold ~ 986535 There are also a multitude of Watchmakers Marks, but I cannot make out any of them. I assume they are from repair work that has been done.
On the works it says: V699440 ~ Elgin 650 ~ 19 Jewels ~ USA
On the backside of the band it says: Each link is marked: Kreisler ~ On the end link it says: Top 1/20 10KT GD (or maybe GF very tiny) Bottom Stainless
The inscription says: Presented to Laura Goodman 25 Years Service The Kahler Corporation 1949. (info about the Kahler found here: http://www.thekahlerhotel.com/pdf/KH48014_HistoryBook_nm.pdf)
Thank you for your time looking and any help you can give me.

Thanks for sharing the pretty watch and nice story. Just to clarify: The watch stopped working the day your aunt died? Is it still not working?
beautiful watch I love it ! is there a way a jeweler could fix band as it seems so important to style of watch ?
