Does anyone know what the purpose of these ingots would be. I picked these up at a flea market for, I think, $5.00. Many years ago when silver was inexpensive. Of course, it is almost the image of a buffalo nickel. Hopefully i'm not harboring a counterfeiting item. :-( But what dummy would counterfeit nickels? Jimbo
They were produced in large numbers for what reason?
They made them in large numbers but i can't find any like them anywhere on the internet. There should be some record of them. At least someone selling a set.
Thanks BELLIN68, officialfuel, and Bruce99 for checking these out
Thanks for the information fhrjr2-- these "clad" silver pieces are a little dangerous on the secondary market with recent silver prices.
scott
fhrjr2-- how did you ID as clad vs. solid silver?
scott
Thanks alot Jason...I didn't think they were clad. But, i'll have them checked. Thank you, again. Jimbo
Thanks scott for checking them out.
How does google images ID as clad vs. solid silver?
scott
What site IDd as clad? I'd like to read a little more.
Thanks,
scott
Crooks will counterfit anything for profit. Coin dealer told me 50d nickles were counterfitted resulting in a decline in value of the orignals
Value be dammed.. They have value to me!!
There seems to be confusion between value....and worth. Worth is monetary, value is what they mean to you.
You are correct Jimbo!!
Hazzah!! That IS what matters. Bravo, Jason
Had this tested by a jeweler friend....NOT clad.
This was told to me by some people on here as CLAD. It's not!
