I picked up this Rose Bowl at a local estate auction. It was the first piece in a small but growing World's Fair collection. I know that it is a souvenir from the 1893 Columbian Exposition, or Chicago World's Fair. It was hand blown and hand painted. I have found others online in a peach color, but i have not found any others in this pale satin green. Does anyone know the rarity or value of this item, or any other info? Thanks.

The term "peach blow" refers to the color. Your glass is NOT peach blow-- it is a Rose Bowl.

The extensive damage to the lettering and decoration will detract from value.

There were several firms that made "peach blow"-- they each have a distinct coloration and are very highly prized by collectors.

I don't understand your reference to "peach bowl" or this being an interpretation of something.

This item is one of thousands of souvenir items sold at the World's Fair.

I am not an expert either-- just a collector of glass (and MANY other things).

I was just confused with how this plain custard/ yellow (??) color glass was associated with peachblow.

      I understand now-- thanks!

      Good info, eye4.

It is a rosebowl and the liveauctineers provide some price information that is relevent.

Thanks for the feedback. In my research, all of the rose bowls that I have found from Chicago 1893 are the peachblow glass. I have found nothing online to indicate how this green version would compare in scarcity, desirability, or value. Is it worth less because it's less attractive and less collected, or is it a scarce piece that is worth a premium?

It would be worth less for the reasons you mention-- a true peach blow rose bowl would attract peach blow collector interest as well as World's Fair collectors.

This is a rose bowl made of Vaseline glass. It is made out of uranium and will glow when subjected to a black light. It is scarce, but not as valuable as peach blow. It is also correct that the value is less due to the extensive wear of the lettering.
