I'm proud of this ring box because it was an unlikely discovery in a local antique shop (when I lived in California). Most of my collection has been purchased online so it was exciting to find this one in person. Also, unlike my other ring boxes with their floral and feminine motifs, this one is strikingly masculine with its carriage-style car on the lid. Because of the patina, it's difficult to make out that there is a driver behind the wheel. This box could have been intended for cufflinks. It measures approximately 2" x 2" x 1.75".

This is a RARE ring box. I saw it years ago, but didn't purchase it, and now regret it. Does it have a mark on the underside? I'm guessing WB Mfg Co?

Hi jewelboxbook! Unfortunately, this box is not marked. I found it completely by chance and would have passed on it if I hadn't seen the car motif. There is a small hole on the bottom, but I thought it was still worth the $30 I paid for it at a local antique mall. Do you think it was made for cufflinks?

I'm sure you are right about this jewel box being for a gentleman. However, without a trademark or number, it is hard to date it. So...........it would be for collar buttons or cuff buttons if earlier 1900's or cufflinks if later.
