Had to set up the camera for this one ... documented in Ricke2 in modified form as 1335/698 for Robert Medeu & Co, Berlin (p368) with prior reference to 3/313 ..

The 313 would appear to represent a fairly early production number. There is no documentation of who the Com 3/... production was for ... Com 2/.. was for Andt and Marcus, Berlin 1890-1905 ...

My thinking is Alpengrun or a variant thereof ... interested in peoples thoughts ...
Alpengrun (in yellow/green) and Alpenrot (in red/brown) are documented from 1890 being among the decors starring at the Columbia Exhibition in Chicago in 1893 - although the references I have encountered suggest a pale blue ground where this one is best described as mauve pink ...

The ground colour almost disappears when held to the light ... Pics are lit from the right ... Thanks to Mr T for assistance in purchase and transport

Enjoy ... not something you are likely to see very often ...

Fantastic find Steve. Congratulations. I think the rarity of the piece has some of us speachless here...

Thanks Vetraio, Mr T and everyone for the Feedback

Thought putting the decor up with the documented shape might result in a few more coming to light ... but it appears not to be the case ...

Dimensions 4.5" high by 8.5" wide, nice polished pontil to 1.25" diameter ...

Note to AH: Best to choose decors for attributions that no-one has seen or commented on for nearly 120 years .. :-)

Raises the question: Has anyone seen a documented Alpengrun piece?

Alpengrun & Alpenrot are now present on Loetz.com ... both well worth a look ... leaves this as an unidentified decor ...

Victorian loetz is mostly undocumented from what I've seen. I think there is a lot of it out there that we don't recognize right now.

It's definitely an area I am very interested in.

      Hi Alisa
You are doing a great job of researching it to ... Just Love most of the pieces you have on your site .... pity I don't have the time to maintain one ... but then it would be so much harder / more competitive to buy them ... Think we should just enjoy the opportunity we have ... it won't last long ...
p.s don't sell those Harrach pieces .... more to come ....
      Cheers

I know this is an old listing, but stumbled across it surfing for Arndt & Marcus info.
If I recall correctly, this is a 1335/698. The 1335 signifies the Robert Medeu patterns. The 3/313 in parentheses signifies this is a shape analog of PN II-3/313.

The color is very unique. I would not call this an Alpengrun. Just a hunch, I see the next pattern in Robert Medeu's list was made in decor "Robertos". Perhaps this is a proprietary color/decor named after the company?
