If you look in the middle of the first photo of the old dump dig posting I did earlier today, you will see this item as it came out of the ground.
After washing it up, this is what I got. What amazing patterns and colors, I do not know what it is, but it sure is interesting. The patterns are in the glass itself, not applied, with the pattern on the inside not matching the pattern on the outside. The colors are in layers throughout the glass.
It appears to be broken off of something, but I have no idea what. The measurements are 2-1/4” tall by 2” across the top. Any ideas as to what type of glass this is, or what it might be from?
I sure wish I had all of it.
enjoy
looks to be the top of a vase. the glass is called slag glass; a mix of different colors of glass. Purple slag glass (mix of white and purle) is fairly common. I don't recognize the pattern of this piece right off tho'.
TallCakes,
Thank you very much for the info! I have heard the term slag glass before.

TallCakes,
Amazing! Now I can tell people I dug up the top half to a "Charming Purple Slag Glass Posy Vase." I had absolutely no idea what that was.
Thank you very much again for the info!
Beautiful and Tallcakes link was great to see it all in one piece . What a beautiful old piece of glassware !
Beautiful item and thread! I followed TallCakes shortly after encountering him. He really knows glass and is an excellent detective. Also very nice person! Both of you bring old works of beauty to life, and here you are working together. Thank you!
