Yes, MORE cobalt. This one is a really nice piece. I think the color is really exceptional. It stands 6 1/4 inches tall and the globe is 4 inches wide. It has an almost coin dot appearance that shows in the third photograph but really has to be seen 'live' to fully appreciate. It is signed on the bottom in an etched manner. The stem and base fluoresce 'very' slightly and that makes me think it's probably a pre WW II piece. I would love to know if anyone knows anything about when it may have been made. I have taken it at face value that it has a mark that is true to the manufacturer that I listed. I haven't found this exact mark before. I've had it about 35 years when my mother gave it to me. I have tried to find more information about their cobalt pieces, but haven't had much luck except for a vaguely similar piece with gold accents here:

Thanks, we really do! We may live on a farm in the middle of nowhere where there is no cell service and the nearest grocery or fast food place is at least an hour away, but it's well worth it. One of these days I'll post some pictures from around the place....after I've done some weeding and mowing! :-)

Hello, miKKo! I'm glad you like it. The design lends itself to single large flowers, such as hybrid tea roses or a 3-4 flower spray of smaller roses. The older peonies are really lovely as single specimens, especially my favorite Sarah Bernhardt.
very pretty vase. Generically the shape is called an ivy ball vase or just ivy vase. The roughness of the top edge makes me think that perhaps there was some kind of top edge treatment that is missing. The ball stem is simple yet elegant. Love the cobalt blue.
Ivy ball, huh? I'll chalk that up to one more thing I've learned today! I wonder why they call it that? Maybe because it's got a sort of topiary form with that large ball on top, like a plant grown as a standard?
TallCakes, I had wondered about the edge myself. The top flat portion (where you can stand it upside down) is quite smooth, but the inner edge (inside of the bowl portion) is extremely sharp! Do you think it may have had some sort of metal collar or something, or perhaps has just been chipped over time? Thanks for the comments and loves! :-)
Hi, all. When TallCakes mentioned the rough edge at top, my immediate thought was 'flower frog', perhaps silver or silverplate. I don't hypothesize that there was one; it's just that the possibility came to mind. Portieux-Vallerysthal items were well finished. Oh, the Sarah Bernhardt sounds marvelous! : ) miKKo
could be a frog insert would work; but like you say PV us usually finished very well and one would expect a smooth finish even with a frog insert. Could also be that they was a taller collar that got chipped and a previous owner had it ground down. Hard to say for sure without an original for comparison.
miKKo and TallCakes.. both of those ideas seem quite likely to me! Now if I can just find a picture of one like it and see what IT has around the top. I've been looking for a while and haven't seen one like it yet. In fact, I can find very little cobalt by them in comparison to their other items. Hi, chinablue! I don't know that the following book would have your piece in it, but I do remember seeing at least one item that was at least similar to yours in the following book:
"Encyclopedia of Cobalt Glass: Identification & Values", by Tom Felt, Collector's Books, Paducah, Kentucky, 2009.
I'm sure that you'd love this book - that is, if you haven't already read it. FYI, I heard that Collectors Books has or is closing up shop, so it might be well to acquire a copy now if you're interested. miKKo
I understand your "Manic" behavior on the "Blue" stuff. I too have some unstable behavior around certain items. LOL. This piece is fantastic, LOVE the Cobalt Blue color in itself. Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece.

kerry thank you for the comment. It's amazing what triggers reactions in those of us with certain predilections when we see certain things. I love shiny (ie: silver, crystal, metallic) and of course, cobalt. You should see me when in a room full of Blue Willow china! I tell you, it's a sickness with me! *LOL*

I know this is an old thread, but I found it bwcause I am trying to research the exact same piece!
I have your "Ivy Ball" Vase's twin. It too has the rough flat top edge that is rather sharp.
I found it in a thrift store with candle wax stuck all over the inside of it.
I would love to know how old it is.
