Three different Australian poker work doyley covers or press, the first two have a kookaburra on them and the last a Willy Wagtail or here in New Zealand... Fantails

Poker work in Australia was popular craft in the quarter of the 20th centaury and was done by burning the design into the wood and hand painting them. I have a few different objects, vases, egg cups and afew boxes but! these are my favourites for obvious reasons...... :-)

    Thank you for looking.

Every time I come on collectors At times it breaks my heart to see pieces I use to have & sold for nothing. Keep collecting them as they are pronounced to be hard to get. The middle 1 is used for doily's. If you do get them they are hard to recognise the maker in this case yours are signed by the maker & 1 of the best at the time as if I believe Wright she started this type of art now her daughter I believe has taken up the art herself. Pity I do not have all the research I had on them.
