I have a clear jar with wire on top says duraglas on the bottom has a 7 then I think I 2 on the bottom c-2989 what kinda of a jar is this? Me and my Granny are going thru ols jars trying to figure them out . It held 2 and a half quarts of water so we don't think it was a canning jar. Any input would be great she is slowing down a little and I'm working her brain.
Around here, jars like this are often used for fresh milk. The wide mouth allows you to skim the cream. The handle and "sure grip" pattern on the upper shoulder gave better grip when you would pour from it. And yes pickles every now and then. :-)
This is a small mouth one so is it a pickle one? Also are they worth anything and how old would you think it is?
Hopefully a collector can tell you something from the markings on your jar. It may have been a pickle jar, either originally or repurposed as one.
I should have been more precise when I said "wide mouth". I meant it had a wider mouth than the glass jugs that milk was poured into after straining/skimming and kept just for drinking, like this one:

I'm posting a couple of pictures of a jar like yours I found today. I think my jar has the same texture as yours, although, the texture of mine is on the bottom as yours is around the shoulders. So I think your jar is an earlier version of my Karo syrup bottle. I wonder if they're worth anything. I paid a dollar for mine. Look for gregthebobo on show and tell for my post.
