This is a lovely item I found when conducting a coin appraisal. I was drawn to it's tiny, delicate size. It's a vintage perfume bottle and still contains some perfume from a previous owner. It's in good condition, no dents or obvious damage. The stem is a tiny spiral/corkscrew attached to a screw-top cap. There is a lovely color/patina from age.
The engraving on the bottom is worn but still readable. It says EMP PLATA MEX S.A., Sterling 0.925, ME-15.
Dimensions: Height approximately 43mm (or 1-11/16"), width 45mm, depth 15mm
I would love to know more about this little bottle. Does anyone know the approximate age or the value? I am only aware of the obvious markings and purpose of the bottle so any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi..
EMP PLATA MEX S.A. Is likely the maker of this piece. Plata means silver in spanish.
M means it was made or assayed in Mexico City. E -15 meaning they were the 15th company to registered a company starting with the letter "E". If you research the company more you might find out more of a date on when it was made but they are horrible with dating. It could be any range that the company existed. Once you find the company.. you could email them and send them pictures. I am sure they have old catalogs.
Rest assured. Perfume bottles are collectable. EMP Plata was quite respectable. I am sure it would bring a good price.
