The leerdam factory asked well known designers ,potters ,architects ,furniture makers to design glaswhare for them
( also frank loyd wright was one of them I think none of his designs went in production if they did they are extremely rare)
gidding was a well known dutch designer in the 1920's one of his best known designs is the carpet in the main foyer in the Tuschinski movie theatre in amsterdam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuschinski.

Thanks vlkma238412! I stand corrected. This is an amazing piece, it was the one I thought was the Tortuga. I hope to see more of the amazing collection. The first photo was quite a tease.

Gidding worked for the factory at leerdam as a part-time designer from 1926 to 1930
at first he painted existing Leerdam designs later he made his own designs which were sold clear or painted ( pic 4 are some of his designs some painted vases)
some Gidding pieces in the national glasmuseum in the netherlands http://www.nationaalglasmuseum.nl/collectie/resultaat/q/zoekveld/gidding/trefwoord/record_type/object

Great Gidding vase;-)) He was inspired by Theodore Colenbrander!
thanks bert i had seen it in a book and at a very expensive store (ledelmeyer) way out of my range and then in 1997 went to the yearly glassfair in leerdam and there it was and immediately bought it
Yeah i know you can almost buy a car for such a good Gidding vase nowadays ;-)
