    Jaap Gidding made in 1928 heigth 33.5 cm and 30cm diameter made with the use of templates and then sprayed tried to capture the spraying techniek this is part of the top ( pic 2 ) this is not a unique piece but the crisis starten in 1929 so not many where made They where also made in green sprayed black and clear sprayed yellow and orange .     The leerdam factory asked well known designers ,potters ,architects ,furniture makers to design glaswhare for them
    ( also frank loyd wright was one of them I think none of his designs went in production if they did they are extremely rare)
    gidding was a well known dutch designer in the 1920's one of his best known designs is the carpet in the main foyer in the Tuschinski movie theatre in amsterdam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuschinski.

    Vetraio50 this is not a meydam tortugas, there is no wirkkala on that photo so dont know which piece you think is wirkkala I bought the L40 25 years ago

      Thanks vlkma238412! I stand corrected. This is an amazing piece, it was the one I thought was the Tortuga. I hope to see more of the amazing collection. The first photo was quite a tease.

      Gidding worked for the factory at leerdam as a part-time designer from 1926 to 1930
      at first he painted existing Leerdam designs later he made his own designs which were sold clear or painted ( pic 4 are some of his designs some painted vases)

      it is a very rare piece

      thanks bert i had seen it in a book and at a very expensive store (ledelmeyer) way out of my range and then in 1997 went to the yearly glassfair in leerdam and there it was and immediately bought it

      i saw this shape earlier today on cw as a bamboo i like this one much better
