It's not official or anything...but this little lady reminds me of something "Half-Pint" would of dragged back and forth across the prairie from home to school. Love her outfit and babushka, and her woolly hair is thick like mine. Aunt Nellie didn't leave a note about her, so I'm kinda lost with this one. Oh yeah, I'm taking a stab at it, and am gonna say she's "composition". Any ideas?
She is a glass eye composition doll with mohair wig . Dates late 1890's-1910 appx. She is most likely German made and should have a mark on back of her head or a stamp saying Germany . Can you see one ?
hea Mani, my sister has one of those (a glass eye)
Which one Mikie like this one ?
Hi Manikin..thanks. I see no symbols, markings or letters of any kind on her head. I have not taken her clothing off to examine further cuz I'm afraid to ruin it, but if you think it would be ok, I'll take take a closer look. Yes, she def seems to have glass eyes, and her hair comes out of a little hole on the top of her head and is glued on. Maybe the words are underneath the glue?
I would leave her clothes on I am sure she is German and she is in her original clothes and we do not want to risk them tearing to remove . She is another little beauty .
