Oh boy I love this thing! It's an Abraham Palatnik Lucite Whale Sculpture, and in my recent research (done today), I've discovered it's worth quite a bit!! the oneson Ebay are selling for about $225.00, not that I would expect to get that for it in this economy. BUT-- the kicker to this piece is how much I got it for. Ready? 25 CENTS. no joke!! Got it down at a tiny old thrift shop down by the River, and it just caught my eye. I've had it for 2 years now and it's been in my bathroom, on the frame of my large mirror, looking so tiny and cute. now it looks soo expensive!!! YAY! so what do you think? Should this item be kept or sold? I figure if i sell all of my nice and valuable finds, then i have little to show for my hard work hunting. My problem could be that I don't collect any one specific type of thing.. : /
This is great! I bought my fish in the dark, just because they looked cool too. I did pay 1.50 each, so got a super sweet deal. I am having problems settling on a specific collection too. My hubby is also making some rumbling noises about the shear quantity. Half of my finds are carefully stored in bins in the garage.
My fisheys, however, are hanging in my kitchen next to my Metlox Tropicanna.
KEEP IT! It's too amazing to sell.
Amber, thank you for writing back!! as far as your stock pile, tell hubby it's a gold mine and you'll bequeath it all to him one day haha!! it does get hard to store, luckily my Whale is tiny : ) Can't wait to see more of your finds
Thank you Bellin and FlowerRose!!! Mwah!
Hahaha! Welcome to CW. Can't wait to see more of your posts!
Palatnik used to sell in the Brazilians Airports in the mid 1970's... congrats from Brazil !!!
Keep it! :) I've sold too many wonderful items I wish I still had. I never kept anything because I had a store and needed to keep it going. I acquired things I loved, looked at them for awhile, and then parted with them. Of course, we move a lot so it seemed reasonable. Still, it would mean a lot to me if I could still enjoy them. I guess it depends on how much you need the money, too. It's really a lovely little fishey!!
