I believe this is a Roseville fuschia bowl. But what is this called officially as there are holes to the lid. What purpose are the holes?

Just a guess since I know nothing about art pottery, but I think it might be a bowl for flowers. It appears that the lid has holes in it for flowers.. sort of like a built in flower frog. I do know that some were made with a "built-in" flower frog inside. I have seen other types of bowls (not art pottery) that were made like yours is made.
For popouri..dried flowers to scent the air...justr a guess, but that's what I'd do with it. I think it would be too short for flowers..they woud be too top heavy
Yes, Roseville Fuchsia circa 1938.
There's no "official" shape name since it's a marriage of two pieces and likely wouldn't have been originally sold as a pair.
I'm guessing without dimensions, but the pieces appear to be a #348-5 bowl and #37 flower holder/arranger (or flower frog).
