My brother and I found this Mickey when we were searching for older items to purchase from someone who was selling a lot of things. We found it down in the basement tucked away. I had 3 antique dealers look at it to see if there was anything they could tell me about it. They all seemed to think that it was hand made and paper mache. The head hands and feet are heavier, not like a paper mache would be. I cannot find any information on this piece, any information would help thank you.

Hello getamobile, First let me say welcome to the CW Forum.
I've been a Disney collector for a number of years and have never seen a Mickey marionette that looks like this one. It appears to be patterned after the style of the Charlotte Clark Dolls of the 1930's. I would have to agree that it's probably home-made, but still a very interesting piece. The Head and feet are more than likely paper mache as implicated by the other dealers, that have "hands-on" with this piece. The weight factor would be explained easy, The feet would be weighted (possible wood blocks covered in the paper mache) for the balance of the puppet. The head is also a bigger bulk piece and probably has an inner form to hold the shape.
It would very hard to give you an offcial date of this piece, because of it not being a manufactured piece, but the style is copied from the "Charlotte Clark dolls of the early 1930's. Note if it's a Charlotte piece, there will have several unique markers, which I don't see on this one.
Again, this is different piece and very interesting. I'd try researching the history of this from the person that had the house where it was found, if possible. There's got to be a good story in there somewhere.
Sorry couldn't be more help. Best Regards,
      Kerry

Thank you very much, from all of my research so far, I have not come across the "charlotte clark dolls" yet. The person I received this from actually had bought out a couple of storage lockers and semi trailers of things. He didn't realize what he had. That is going to be hard to find any info on this one. I will keep searching, and again, thank you for the response.

Manikin, thank you again for the help. I don't know if you seen, but I also have a printing block that has "little rascals" on it. Also, it has mickey, bugs, and a couple other names on there as well. I am trying to research this one as well, but not getting very far. Thank you again for getting back to me, much appreciated.
