A.D. Copier 24 cm high 17 wide signed A.D. Copier 800238 oude horn
After his retirement (1971),Copier started working in 1977 at the glass studio of the former leerdam designer WH Heesen who was discovered by Copier in 1943 when he was searching for new pupils to attend the glasschool in Leerdam.
WH Heesen was head of the design department at the Leerdam factory from 1968 till his retirement in 1977 afterwhich he founded in the same year his own glasstudio named the 'De Oude Horn' in a small village Acquoy .
Copier lived near the North Sea where he regularly walked along the beach what inspired him to make the North Sea series.
the colors are greenish, blue, grey and opaque with entrapped air bubles
within very thick glass ( near the bottom about 5 cm thick). At the bottom the white glass that is applied to the outside of the object is mirrored in the inside of the object ( photo 4 ) It has a very small opening 0.5 cm hell to clean
it is hard to get the color right cause just like the sea they change .
When the serie was finished the pieces where laid out on the beach like they just had been washed up by the sea .
I have another one of this serie smaller that i will discribe later
