Once again I'm guessing, but is it a British postal scale?

My money is on a grocer's scale ~ the prices in pence (up to 1/ ~ one pound sterling) which gives you the total cost depending on the weight of the item(s) on the scale... tomatoes, pork chops or whatever. Became obsolete with inflation.

As to value, who knows? Think about having a 'collection' of like items and how quickly you would run out of room. Sure, someone trying to do a re-creation of an old greengrocers' shop would love it. But how many of those are there? More of a decorator piece that, if it was in a shop, the owner would LOVE to see get carried out (figuratively if not literally) of the store at any price!

Thank you that sounds about right... I've sent emails to diferent collector sites but noone has replied yet. I geuss with most things it's worth about what someone will pay. Its bloody heavy!!!!! It would take abit to carry it out of the shop!!
