dont they sometimes heat treat saphires to enhance the color?

This is really beautiful! The color is such a stunning blue. (and yes, that's what caught my eye) Do you know when it might have been made? If it's not a terribly old piece, it might possibly be cavansite. It's one of the few crystals I know of that has such a brilliant electric blue color. But whatever it is, it is gorgeous! If you'd like to see some examples of cavansite, you can see some of them here:

I have no idea when this was made. I would have thought 70's or 80's. But I really don't know. kinda thinking dyed Geode is the key. It would be very awesome if it were cavanasite but it looks like the crystal formation is wrong for it?

I think it's an azurite geode... Azurite is associated with malachite, alot of the time, but can sometimes be found without, as in this example

or google "blueball azurite geode" and you should see some different similar examples, even some made into jewelry like yours!

I could of course be wrong, but that's my "diagnosis!"

Also, to support my case, is the outside and the inside flecked with green? It seems to be in the photos, but I'm not sure.. If so, that's the malachite :)
