I have recently become fascinated by Danish Skonvirke Jewelry and added some great items to my current collection.
This Stunning Example of Skonvirke Jewelry from my Archive is a Pendant Brooch with S L Jacobsen mark that was made around 1910.
Most people have heard of Georg Jensen but perhaps not so many people realise that much of Georg Jensens early work was in the Danish Skonvirke Style. In the early 1900s Danish jewellers such as Thorvald Bindesboll and Mogens Ballin pioneered a new way of working. The radical Skonvirke style was high relief and sculptural reflecting the roots of many of the silversmiths such as Georg Jensen who had originally trained as Sculptors. Skonvirke Jewelry was organic and natural abstract shapes with an emphasis on handcrafted hammered silver a rebellion against mass production like the English Arts and Crafts movement.
Many of the most famous Danish Silversmiths such as Evald Nielsen, Mogens Ballin and Holger Kyster were connected and at some stage in their careers worked together with the Great Georg Jensen. This piece was most likely attributed to a design by Evald Nielsen as S L Jacobsen retailed pieces by Evald.

Very nice! I think the stones in the necklace are Malachite, but the stone in the pendant looks a bit different. What is it? Thank you for putting up all your beautiful jewelry. :)
very organic i love that!
All the best for the Festive Season in Blighty, KITTY!
I also love Skonvirke but I don't own one unfortunately. This is a great piece! Wonderful in every way!
