Back in the good 'ol days, when paper and timber and lumber companies owned a lot of timberland, they often would post their property lines with specially-made signs which announced their property lines. Often these signs would include the corporate logo, and some had a "prevent forest fires" message or something similar. In my career in forestry, I've collected many things (hats, cups, mugs, signs, shirts....)....eventually I decided to pick one category to stick with, to reduce the clutter in my life - I picked signs. And have enjoyed it ever since. There are only a handful of major timber companies remaining in the US which still own their lands and still "post" their property.....so most of the companies in my collection no longer exist (eg: Federal Paper Board); or no longer actually own any land and are simply in the manufacturing business (eg:Georgia-Pacific). I'll try to show some close-ups of some of my favorites, and share a little history about the companies, or the signs themselves as time goes by,....and if anybody's interested. Definately ain't no category for these types of signs! happy collecting.
great collection - thanks for sharing!
