I guess this is just to show how extreme my collecting style is. I really like old repairs / patches on anything - old tools, wooden bowls, pots... there's something about an old pot which has been carefully sewn up with wire many years ago which makes it so much more interesting than an unbroken one - to me. am i warped or do others like funky stuff like this too?

I agree, that kind of thing is fascinating. When I took the linoleum up in my kitchen, the floor had been repaired with coffee and snuff can lids.

that's cool packrat-place. did you take photos? i have a piece of a boat hull w/ loads of handmade patches on it which i really like too. there's something about items which have been cared for - out of necessity or desire to make them last longer - which is so vital and beautiful in our disposable world.

Really wonderful. I have an old key that is one of my best mementos from my dad. He repaired the hole at the top many times with solder and old washers etc. It is beautiful.
