My father had this for decades, he wasn't sure of its origin, but suspected that it could be Arabic/Middel Eastern/Indian, maybe 1800's or early 19. Its deffinitely not contemporary, there is crazing on the glaze, and the bottom is dirty. Does this look familiar to anyone? Any tidbits at all (no matter how small!) would be very much apreciated!

It resembles the Cizhou wares of the Song Dynasty in China. But the decoration is different. The decor here is painted on the vase in overglaze enamels - the Cizhou pieces were sgraffito decorated with these typical carved designs of flowers and cross hatching. Check out "Cizhou pottery" on Google images and you will see what I mean. I think the form is called a "globe vase". The colour suggests the Persian area too. Just thoughts put together for you to work on. The work is to fine, it's more 'industrial' to my eye.

Ah okay, those are some great leads for me to follow! I was searching Google and I noticed that the Persian stuff looked vaguely similar too. I'm going to hit Google Images hard with those leads you gave me. Thanks again Vertraio
