The Collector’s market here on July 1 had only two items that really interested me. This was one of them. I just love the turned lip and those bubbles/blister! It was designed by Kaj Franck for the Nuutajärvi Notsjö factory in 1966 and was in production until 1980. It was produced in green, clear, rosé, brown or green ‘rakkolasia' or 'blister glass' . Sargasso was a range that included glass vases, bowls, jugs, bottles, baskets and a mug. It is signed Nuutajärvi in script on the deeply ground pontil.
This vase is 11 cm high.
It still retains the Arabia sticker.
"Finnish Nuutajärvi was established in 1793, ... Kaj Franck was appointed chief designer for Nuutajärvi in 1950 as part of his duties at Arabia, Nuutajärvi and Arabia were both owned by the industrial concern Wärtsilä."

Hi V! Hope you are well. This is a nice piece. Are you posting the second item or teasing us?
I'll post some fun pieces tomorrow. Just finished a two hour yoga class and am content to iPad it and watch the Tour de France.
As always it is a tease. One a day keeps me amused. I've got a French one for "le Quatorze" that is a 'scream'! The Olympic one even has a number play thing going. We're well and I hope that it's a bit cooler!
Many thanks bellin!
Many thanks mikielikesigns2!
Many thanks inky!
Many thanks miKKo!
I love this series. Got one in "rosé" but always wanted to have more. I saw some really huge ones in Helsinki two years ago. They're also very simmilar to Erik Höhlund's first works for Boda, with all those "blisters"
Many thanks austro and mon amie Amy too!
Many thanks Londonloetzlearner!
I saw 'Silk' last night!
Love it!
Oh no! No, NO, no, no, no. Silk! Hah! As if.
I can't watch it. I keep wanting to throw things at the TV and shout - even when the trailers come on.
I suppose it's possible the criminal bar operates like that - but the Commercial and Chancery bars certainly don't! And the number of ethical and professional conduct no-nos is unbelievable. We'd all be struck off if we behaved like that - as I have to keep on explaining to those people who can't differentiate between drama and real life and suggest that this is how I run my career.
On the other hand, I bet doctors and teachers and policemen say the same about dramas about them, and I guess it is entertaining if you aren't thinking about having to explain to your grandmother that the job really is nothing like on the telly... and any bunch of alleged professionals who still go to work in horse-hair wigs is really asking for it. (They're very itchy, btw)
Rant over. I'm calm. I promise! Enjoy away - at least I can take comfort you're not one of those who think it's really like that.
I asked for that didn't I?
No, but you get it anyway! That's lawyers for you.
That's fine by me!
Too kind! You will learn not to indulge me ...
I'm looking forward to the Bastille Day post. You've got me thinking whether I can find anything to post!
Down here in oz it's just three hours away till the 14th, text is prepared and I'll do it after I get back from the markets tomorrow morning.
I clearly need to get organised!
stunning vase Kevin:)
Many thanks SEAN and Gary too!
your very welcome Kevin:) I have to say that this a rare item , because for the simple fact , 1. you have a signature with a different company
2. with a sticker of different company
3. even thought they merged . its makes it kind of rare, in my mind. am I wrong?
I'll have a look into it Sean.
According to http://www.great-glass.co.uk/glass%20notes/markn-r.htm
this label was used on Nuutajärvi, Finland (1793 - 1988) pieces during a certain range of time.
They indicate the period c 1972 - 1977 for the 'Arabia' metallic (black on silver) label.
This piece is a production number. Not that rare. It was designed by Kaj Franck for the Nuutajärvi Notsjö factory in 1966 and was in production until 1980. The sticker indicates production in the middle of that period, I'd say.
I didn't know that's why ive asked but , I never seen anything like this before!
There are people trying to work out the variety of stickers used on Glassmessages board since 2009.

Great piece! Love the information. It is very difficult for me to find pieces from Finland. I have a set of bookends that I adore and that is all I have. I will post them for fun. Thanks for sharing your brilliant finds!
