Very rare unique color emerald-green I think made in 1848 and design of historical flasks of american primitive portraits in glass. There are no cracks or chips this is one of the very rare color of flasks in this category are the Washington-Taylor series of flasks. This is a Historical Flasks, the picture is a quart size version with General Taylor on one side (with the embossing GENERAL TAYLOR NEVER SURRENDERS - a reference to his Mexican War exploits in 1847) and George Washington on the other (with the embossing THE FATHER OF HIS COUNTRY). wondering how much one of these might be worth?
The hard part is figuring out if it's an original or a much more common replica.
Originals can be worth hundreds to even thousands of dollars depending on color and condition. Replicas are very common and have been made for many years starting in the early to mid 1900's. You basically need to have an expert or experienced collector examine it in person.
Albeit this post is 5 year old, I'll say that
The colour is wrong
The top is tooled, not applied, which is wrong
It likely lacks an open pontil
And it was likely made in the 1970s.
In the 30's the Klepinger brothers began to produce fake bottles due to an increased interest in collecting. One of the differences of the original and fake bottles is the neck. On the fakes the neck looks like a peg that was driven into he bottle with no curve. On the original the bottle has a smooth curve that gracefully swerves up at close to a 45degree angle . Also on the fakes George Washington's head is tilted up and the hair is not well defined. I know I bought one that the seller insisted was original but turned out to be a reproduction.
