Just wondering about this carved bowl. It is 20" long and has four handles, looks like turtle sort of. Maybe Indian? And what kind of wood? I think walnut?, but I am not smart in woods! thanks toracat

I know just less than nothing about Native American items, but where we live, bowls like this are frequently handed down through the family as "dough bowls". Often they were made by someone locally or even family members. I'm not saying that's what this is, but if I saw it at a local flea market or antique store, that's what I'd have thought it was.
Need better photo's to attempt to identify the type of wood.
I will get better photo! thanks toracat, also may be hand me down, that is ok with me! toracat
Still hard to tell, to close. The other photo's would have been fine if they had been in focus. It does appear to be made from an open grain wood, & looks like it was carved with a gouge.

I will try one more photo like first but in focus, thanks toracat
I'm sorry, it's just too hard to tell from the photo's.
thanks! I have been collecting things for 35 years and do not know what many are! But it is fun trying to figure out! toracat
