I picked up this coke sign this morning but it's definately a weird one, I dont know much about coke advertising but the font looks strange to me other than the logo. Does anyone know anything about this sign and whether or not it appears genuine?

The previous owner told me it was from the 1960s but thats all he seemed to know, i got it for about $30(£20).

I think it might have been attached to one of those advertising boards outside a local grocery store, Its about the right size and it has 2 small holes on the top of the sign. It's painted tin but really quite thin and light weight.

It's also double sided and it has N. L. Cowling (Charlton Ltd) 653842-12-62 stamped on the lower left edge

Looks like a 1960's display rack sign from forgeign country. £20, or 30$ i think is great deal for it, were are you from if you dont mind me asking?

Hey, thanks for the reply! thats good news, I was slightly worried some guy just painted it himself. I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland in the UK. If you dont mind me asking how can you tell it looks like a 1960's? is there any differences in the coke logo throughout the years that helps date it?

There is a sign on page 205 of Petretti's price guide that has the same wording and logo. It is listed as a 50's sign. Probably 1959. It's unusual to see the Coca-Cola in block letters.

The sign in the book is 16" x 40" and has a picture of a bottle on it. It is valued at $1000.00.

Thanks for the info :) I saw it searching through the book on amazon, It's definately far cooler than mine but its really cool to see the similarities in the design.

thanks for the info fifties50s. Thats definately pretty cool, I did find out mine was made in London though in the 60s. It's cool to know more about the font type though, It's definately an odd looking font. Have you seen my actual sign anywhere or just similar ones like the link you sent?
