i found this with a bunch of tools in my grandfathers workshop, im not sure how old nit says ford written like ford motor company on the top side. i'd like to know more about it and its approx. worth thank you
I have one too . I think is for a model T FORD motor coil
from what I have seen on ebay, that is exactly what it is.
Model T Ford Coil, the cool thing with these is , you can remove them from the car while it's running and the car will run on as few as two cylinders. I've seen this with my own eyes by a guy in Albion, PA
Is this for a motor for a car or is it a morse code machine?
I have one of these as well, did anyone have any idea of worth? Or what it actually is? I am keen to learn more.
Thanks
Model-T ignition coil. They were actually used as 'spark' transmitters in the early part of the 20th century by hobbyists and actually had a range of a few blocks or a few miles based on how good the antenna was. Such items later became illegal to use as radio transmitters as they were broadband emitters and would blanket the RF spectrum with RF hash, and would interfere with radio (and later TV) reception in the immediate area. There was no way to adequately tune them to a given frequency. I see these at ham radio swap meets, and looking on ebay now I see multiple ones for $10-20 range.
