Tree Signs, pt2: P&G

Did you know that Procter & Gamble (P&G) at one time owned thousands of acres of timberland in Florida and Georgia, and operated multiple pulp mills? What were they making? The fluffy pulp for Pampers baby diapers, and Bounty paper towels, and Charmin toilet paper: what else. At some point in the company's history, P&G decided to leave the business of growing trees and making pulp to other companies who specialize in that sort of thing. Now, P&G purchases fluffy pulp and raw paper tissue from any number of companies, then converts that raw pulp & paper into the finished products that you buy in the stores. This P&G boundary sign is one of my favorites, I had really wanted a P&G sign for a while, and just happened to find another sign collector who had it....and we managed to make a successful trade. Today the Oglethorpe GA mill is owned by Weyerhaeuser Company [WY] , and the Foley/Perry FL mill is owned by Buckeye Technologies [BKI] (get the joke? The new owners called their company "Buckeye". P&G is headquarted in Cinci, O. and has lots of Ohio State U. alum....the OSU Buckeyes....get it?)
