Any help on this vase would be appreciated. It came home three weeks ago and as yet I have not had any luck in identifying it on the net. Maybe someone has seen it before. I has no signature. It does a have a nice polished pontil to the base. So, it is a waisted shape that has been blown into a mould. The semi-circular waisted shape is then reflected in the engraved ‘sun’ or is it a ‘sun-flower’ that is engraved onto a round disk that is placed a bit higher on one of the sides. There is a central circle the cut leaves and smaller circles between each leaf.
When I found it on a shelf at Vinnies it needed a good clean in the edges where grime had concentrated. These waisted shapes can be difficult to clean if they are used. It is an elegant form nevertheless, imho.
Scandinavian, Czech? I don’t think it is English. But you never know?
It's quite larger.
H: 26 cm or 10.2 "
W: 11 cm or 4.3 "
D: 7 cm or 2.75 "
Many thanks young Sean! I'm off now to look for something else!
Apple-pickers in town!
Many thanks SEAN68!
Hey V,
First, love the combo, are those eagles??? Look fantastic, perfect person to own those.
Second...now work with me here as I cannot remember the name. There was an artist from Blenko (I know) who left and put out some great glass. This looks like it. I know it sounds odd, but first thing I thought when I saw this was this...dang it can't think of his name...was this guy. I am headed to night night but did a quick check in to see if Sean hooked up with the American Picker fellas. Might be a wrong lead but fun to investigate. I will look more myself tomorrow. Really beautiful, think this is super cool.
No, thanks Amber.
Blenko is hardly ever seen here; so not on the radar.
I'm stoked, I'll have a look!
Oooh it is going to bug me but too tired to remember name. I know some of the fellas jumped the pond with glass in the 60/70s. Gosh I was really interested in this artist too, frustrating. I finally found a piece of his and broke it literally heading out of the thrift. Door slammed on my bag, crash. Threw it away 5 feet from the door.
Hope you are doing well mid-winter. We have drought. Gotten freakishly hot again. Thought I was going to pass out in yoga tonight. Getting hotter by Wednesday...yea!
Must say, fantastic piece!!!

This one has lots of pretty pictures.
Stelvia is the Italian Empoli connection. Is there a Blenko-Empoli connect as well?
Wayne Husted?
Isn't Stelvia "bubbly" on the outside with a roundish design in the center?
Sorry for the delay, Had to make my youngest breakfast. I'd love him even more if he didn't get up so early ; )
I see what you mean. The base has a similar concave shape. This one has engraved decoration inside the disc. The "texture" on the outside comes from the moulding.
I hope it's a bit cooler for you all today.
next couple of days are suppose to be miserable with heat and humidity. We need rain!
Here's hopin'! Went out today and yesterday too but have found nothing. Totally dry!
Many thanks musikchoo and inky too!
hmm, I have no idea. Maybe Chlum U Trebone Glassworks? Just a total guess.
I don't know if they did engraved glass but the style of the vase itself reminded me of them.
Many thanks for that idea art-of-glass!
Hi art-o'-glass! I've had a look and the name Jan Gabrhel looks promising .......
Many thanks miKKo!
Hello vetriao50!... no not a rose , it's a very pretty pink camellia just one of the camellias starting to bloom at the moment.......:-)
Hi inky! I was not sure. Nice!
Many thanks miKKo and musikchoo and czechman too!
