This was my grandfathers beer stein. I do not know anything about it & have not been able to identify it. I know it is old as he passed away in 1926. The stein is a little round man, with pewter around lid rim & attached to handle ( not sure of the occupation represented.) The bottom has Germany with the number 1566. Can anyone tell me anything about him?

This is a Student beer stein made by Reinhold Hanke circa 1900. Unfortunately, your stein is not in mint condition. If it were in mint condition, the price range would be in the $450 to $600 range. On eBay it would be in the lower range and in a stein auction catalog it would be in the upper range, but the auction company would keep about 30%. Visit http://www.steincollectors.org to learn more about antique German beer steins.
