Hi lilbevey. What interesting spoons! These caught my eye because they look like long stemmed rose buds, especially in the small first picture. The more information you can provide, the better your chances of someone being able to help you with identifying them. Are there any hallmarks on these? Can you tell us how you found that they were silver? Are their hallmarks, does it say sterling, does it have numbers such as 925 or did you have them tested? How large are the spoons? All these things could help in determining where they were made which will give you a good start. I hope someone can help you with these because I'd love to know more about them too! Thanks for sharing them. :-)
I cant find a mark of any kind that's the problem. but I do have silver testing stuff,on the large spoon i don't know if you can tell but it is like , cut needs repair i put the drops there and it turned red, silver they are large they are on a regular size place mat they only let you put 4 pics up or I would have put more. any info will help. thanks so much
These spoons are very unusual, especially since they have pointed ends. Why would a spoon need such pointed ends? I may be way off but how about hat pins?
k1946, what a great thought! If I remember correctly, most were handmade in small shops, sometimes my local craftsmen until the mid to late 1830's or so. I'd be willing to bet you've hit the hatpin on the head! :-)
I put new pics up so you can gauge there size better
Very unique !
someone I asked told me they look like they are from Mexico because of the birds??
they are solid silver
they are mexican. that's a golden eagle holding a snake - the aztec symbol of mexico city and then mexico.
