I got this doll from an estate sale today, it has eyes that are blue and close when you lay it down. it has a clothe body and its arms and legs are moveable. I know it is old, but have no idea how old or where it is made
Hi your composition doll is from 1930-40's . Look at back of doll on her back and also on back of her neck . She is a Shirley Temple look a like if unmarked . Many companies in USA made a look a like Shirley Temple doll as they could not use her name it was exclusive to Ideal Toy company. Some companies were sued by Shirley Temple and Ideal for copying her without permission . They are found fairly often in today's market . She was meant to be Shirley Temple but does not carry the name so can not not be called Shirley only a look a like . Unless you see Ideal And Shirley Temple on her mid back .
Composition which she is made of is very sensitive to water, humidity or dampness and causes cracking and other damage . Her hair should be set in lots of curls . It is mohair and you will get lots of hair loss if you comb it so you have one try and then put a hairnet on it so it lasts . Very nice find . How tall is she ? Any damage ? Cracking or damage to finish ?
You can mark her solved she is a Shirley Temple . Can you take photo of the mark it helps date her ?
