This is a beautiful Miniature Blanket Chest made around 1830-1840 in Salem, NC today known as Old Salem Museum and Gardens. It measures 17" Tall, 14" deep, and 25" wide. This particular example is attributed to Mr. Karsten Petersen (1776-1857). He was a master cabinet maker. This is one of few known Petersen miniature blanket chests from Salem. Most of Petersen's pieces include dressers and full size blanket chests. Look at the dovetails and the wooden pegs at the edge of the chest. Once again, a true southern piece at it's finest.
