Unable to identify and put a value on this vintage platter. Cannot make out the marking on back. Couple of small chips on back of platter, otherwise in very good cond. 10" by 13½", blue & white. Can someone help? Thanks.

Hey sandee. The upper marking is for Royal Worcester England and the one under it is for Jones, McDuffee and Stratton. They were importers in Boston. I don't know the name of this pattern, but have seen it identified as Royal Worcester RW134. By their marking system which at one point was done with dots before the R in Royal and after the D in England, I'd date this between 1893 and1894. I honestly can't see the exact dots in your photo, but it looks like 2 to me. You can see the dinner plate here:

The platter you have has an elongated medallion but I believe that's the same pattern. You can read about these two companies here:

Hope this helps. I think you can probably find out how old this is by checking the marks now that you know who they are if you can see it better than I can. :-)

For ONCE! *LOL* You're usually MUCH faster than I am. I blame it on bifocals...and loss of brain cells in the '70's. ;-) And yes, it is a beautiful piece!
