This sewing machine was in this house when my late wife and I purchased it 30 years ago, it was working probably still is, she used it for several years until she upgraded, it's now stored in an unused bedroom. the serial number appears to be (B554279) where it came from I've no idea older part of the house is over 100 years old, pressed tin ceilings etc, so maybe it's been here a while. "the resident spooks ain't speaking"
It's a model 15, one of 40,000 commissioned August 22 1904 at Elizabethport, NJ. The decal is known as Tiffany. Looks like the drawer handles have been replaced at some time but the cabinet is in pretty good condition other than that. I expect it would work fine with a clean up and oiling. They take ordinary machine needles and you can still buy the bobbins, hopefully the bobbin case is still there.
Thanks for that Bernadette it still has the bobbin and bobbin case. (I checked) but its like a lot of other things here now sits around gathering dust through lack of movement (I include myself in that statement). I see what you mean about the handles I never noticed that before,
I liked your posting, we have one just like that in storage that my wife picked up in a yard sale.
