Hi guys, thank you both for your imput. You will be happy to know that I figured this one out all by myself. It is a staffordshire plate, 9½", cira 1830. It is the "batalha" pattern. It is the picture of the Dominican Monastery in Portugal. It is a very nice piece with a tiny, tiny chip on the rim. The website put a value of $205. All your input is very confusing for me, but I am learning. I don't know much about vintage pottery, as all my pieces have been given to me, not collected. I have alot more to post. The reason I am trying to identify everything is that I have a terminal illness and being a 'pack rat', it's time to 'get my house in order'. I would like to label each piece, so my only child (son) will not have to deal with it later. I hope you can continue to help me through this process. Thanks so much

Morning, sandee! I'm SO sorry to hear of your illness being the reason for getting your things identified and 'getting your house in order'. I can understand what you're doing and commend you for doing it. Hopefully doing this detective work will be comforting to you in some small way and make you feel less concerned for your son. I wish you all the best in all things. If Bellin and I have confused you, please let me/us know what you need explained and I will do my best to explain what I can and I'd say Bellin would too. We may even be able to make you smile once in a while with our antics too if we're lucky :-)
I'm an only child and my mother's home (dad had passed away 13 years beforehand) was STUFFED as was a large separate 3 car garage and my father's woodworking/Indian motorcycle shop. They had a winter home in North Carolina and all THAT had been brought to my homeplace when dad passed and just shoved into the garage. I was so overwhelmed that I took what I knew about, liked and had the fondest memories of and LEFT the rest. Just left it. Now, 7 years later, I am terribly saddened by the things I let go, but at the time, it was the only way to keep my sanity. We (jimborasco here on cw is my husband) have only one child and we have made ourselves and our daughter a promise that she will not have to go through what I did. I nearly had a breakdown over it all. It is so kind and loving that you are trying to save your son from that scenario.
Now about this platter...It seems like you have been hot on the trail of this plate! Keep this up and you won't need any help from us or anyone else! Peace to you, {{ sandee }}.. and a big ol' hug. :-)

Hi, thanks for your words of comfort and thanks for your story. My problems are on a much smaller scale than yours were. Now that I am finally coming to terms with my cancer, I can move on and 'take care of business'. I probably have about 15 to 20 more items to post, so I will keep you busy! Thanks, again.
