Here is another vase with several things going on - clear glass ground, multicolored oil spot decoration, glass frit, and foil inclusions. Eight offset indentations in the vessel body. Fire polished rim, and ground and polished pontil. Engraved within the pontil mark are the numbers 3502-18 (see photo 3). This is a previously unknown decor by Kralik - I have only seen a photo of one other example in a different shape, and I was hesitant to attribute to Kralik because I had never seen other Kralik decors on these shapes. But the combination of the techniques used, the relative thickness of the glass, the fineness of the frit and the shape of the mouth in comparison to known Kralik pieces (see last photo to illustrate), all lead me back to Kralik. This was my best find of the antiques show this weekend.
Very unusual...and cool!
Definately looks like a Kralik shape, I agree. The decor is unfamiliar but very cool. Wonder what Dr. Al will say about it? Another for the Kralik catalog. Congrats!
Craig, I wish I knew - it is a tantalizing clue.
Thanks - Alfredo also thinks Kralik.
Now that is a beauty!!
