I received this from a friend a few years back. It is a stunning blue glass bottle with pewter/silver ? carved roses and leaves on the neck. The workmanship is unbelievable. I do not know what it is used for or where it came from. Would love to know. It seems to have a stamp on one of the leaves, but I cannot make it out. If anyone has any information, please share. I just love it's beauty.

Hi ipeps62! What a gorgeous bottle! I wish I could help you but I can't tell anything about the mark, no matter how I turn it. I'm not very knowledgeable about items like this, but there are many here that are. If you could comment about the size, weight and perhaps post a picture of the bottom of the bottle someone that does can give you more information. By seeing how the bottom is finished, such as does it have a sharp pontil or perhaps a ground surface will be helpful. About all I can tell you is to go over the entire silver/pewter portion, cap included, with a loupe or high magnification glass and see if you see anything else anywhere on it. If there isn't, you may get more information from those that are well acquainted with the color and type of glass rather than the silver/pewter portion. This is gorgeous and deserves to be identified! Thanks for showing this and good luck in your research. :-)

Hello chinablue! Thanks for your comment. I will try looking over the bottle again and will definitely post a picture of the bottom. Those are really good ideas. I have had it for so long, and every once in a while I just look at it and wonder??? I tried to search for similar looking bottle or even the roses and leaves, just to see if I could get more information and have not been successful. I just happened to find this sight last night (which I think is awesome) that may start up a conversation that could lead to some information. Again, Thanks for your comments and let’s see who else has ideas on how to ID this pretty thing,

A glass aficionado really needs to stop by and check this out. Hopefully you'll have the pictures of the bottom and dimensions of it on here by then. I think it's just beautiful! Does it have a top? And if it does, what does it look like and what is it made of? This site is incredible. Some awesome collectors that are very happy to share any information they may have with others that are really looking for answers. Since there is no buying or selling allowed here, there is no competition.. just people sharing what they love and the information they have about it with others that love it too. :-)

I believe this type of glass is modern and from Turkey. I have seen a name for it before but I cannot remember it.

Fantastic, Greatsnowyowl! Now ipeps62 has a name to go with this bottle. :-) May I ask how you knew just for future reference? Was it that you are familiar so you knew it on sight or is that some type of mark on the leaf in the second picture?

I was familiar with this type of bottle. It's something that people want to call loetz for some reason. (baffles me as to why)
