    Coltshell
    (1 item)

Does anyone know an approximate value of this item?
I was given this to me by a friend who was going to throw it away. I know some of these are valuable, just looking for some info on it. Here are a few numbers off the unit.........
    Cabinet model # RB 66L
    Cabinet serial # T-902402
    It does work still.

About $75 to $100. It looks like a late 1940s model. I assume it does not have any shelves in the door (i.e. the door is smooth on the inside), so that would make it a late-1940s model up to around 1950. There are a lot of vintage 1940s-50s refrigerators in un-restored condition on CraigsList all the time and many of them don't sell. Those that do go for $100 or less. I found an old Norge in Cincinnati last December for $75, then he cut it to $50, then $20, then free, then he junked it and yet it still worked OK. I told him to donate it to a local charity, since there was more than likely a poor person who needed a reliable 'fridge. Don't know if he did that or not.

That's not necessarily true. Go to this website:
      http://www.antiqueappliances.com

They sell unrestored for quite a bit actually!

Everybody thinks http://www.AntiqueAppliances.com sets the prices for old refrigerators. No they don't. The man running that company said in an article that an UNRESTORED vintage 1940s-50s refrigerator is worth no more than $150 and that's when it is mostly rust free, still works fine and is missing no parts. The prices you see for refrigerators at http://www.AntiqueAppliances.com are for FULLY RESTORED units only! ! http://www.AntiqueAppliances.com does not sell unrestored 'fridges or parts. They do have a classified ads section for private individuals to sell their items. A tremendous amount of work & effort goes into restoring an old 'fridge. That's why they charge $4,000+ for a fully restored refrigerator. Un-restored is not worth much. Just like collector cars from the 1960s-70s (Pontiac GTO, Ford Mustang, Chevy Camero), when they are fully restored, they sell for $15,000 to $25,000++ but unrestored maybe $3,000 to $10,000.
