Your photo is to small to date what version she is . The Number one Barbie did hit the stores in 1959 I was at store the day they put them out :-) I remember it well . Now the ponytail Barbie had a few transitions and go from number 1 t0-7 .
The early Barbie's just say Barbie and later the body is marked Midge/Barbie . To know she face paint or bangs I can not tell you which ponytail version she is , the number one Barbie is rare to find as well as #2 . The others come on market more often . I can tell from your very tiny photo she is a #3 or later I believe later than a 3 . Can you get a larger photo ? 1957 is not correct . But they did keep the date 1958 for several years also

      The first barbies were marked
      Barbie T.M.
      Pats.Pend.
      (c)MCMLVIII ( This is 1958) !!!

Here is a Number one the first to be sold in stores in 1959 . She did not go over real well and her skin turned white and lost color . Look at her high arched eyebrows . These were on number one barbie and number 2 Barbie. The 3rd ponytail had the more natural shaped eyebrows . Hope all this helped :-)
