I picked this up at a garage sale cheap, just thought it was old and kinda cool. The old guy I got it from ( same age as me, gulp) said it was his dads and used it to heat his camper. It is small, measures about 14" tall by 11" wide and porcelain coated. Have never seen anything like it, there is no makers name on it, any info would be welcome.

its kinda got an "art deco" look, but i know its not from the 20s-30s. my guess is the 50s. (just a guess though) .

Cool heater Ed! I have seen many of these, in fact my grandparents had 2 in their house that was built in the late 40s. My belief is that these were found used in houses around that period. I'm guessing they were mass produced and sold in mail order catalogs.

Thanks Signaholic, I saw a similar one at an antique mall last week, I wonder when bottled gas came out, I'll look it up.

Hi! (I'm new here and so glad I found this site! I know I'm going to find lots of interesting stuff here!) We've been cleaning out my husband's parent's house and he found a heater that reminds me of this one. It's white porcelain and it has the gas hookup on the side much like the one in this picture. It is in very good shape and all the info on the metal tag is still easily read. It is a Kenmore, Model number: 150-2090N, sold by Sears Roebuck. The metal tag says you can get replacement parts through the mail or at any store. I agree that it was most likely purchased through the mail/catalog. The house was built in 1918 so I don't know if that has anything to do with dating the heater or not. I just know I'm "old" and I've never seen anything like it. In that old house we used to own, there was one of those little gas heaters that sit in a fireplace. We used it every winter to make the living room toasty. But this little heater isn't like that one. I've been searching for a picture of it on the web trying to find out how old it is and happened upon this site with this picture. Again, I'm so glad I found this site!

Hi Bipbop, welcome to CW, Propane wasn't used in homes till 1927 and probably not many till the 30's and 40's so I think these heaters are from the 40's but I have not verified that yet.
