I have been promising BELLIN68 that I would post some more of my Martin Boyd pottery, I have at last done it, sorry! it has taken so long.

Here is my collection of vintage Martin Boyd mugs, the back has a different design to the front.

There is a mug that is an impostor amongst them, although!.. still a Boyd pottery mug! can you pick it?....:-)

I love them, thank you for looking......:-)

The business that became known as the Martin Boyd Pottery was first set up in 1946 by Guy Boyd (son of the Victorian potter Merric Boyd) while he was an art student at East Sydney Technical College. The Pottery operated from a house in Waters Road, Cremorne, which he shared with Norma Flegg and her husband, Leonard. A student by day, Guy Boyd threw pots at night, with Norma firing the kiln as well as taking on much of the decorating. In the early days of the business additional decorating work was undertaken by contract workers who included Guy's brother, David, Hermia Lloyd Jones (later Hermia Boyd) and Peter Rushforth.

Nice mugs. Never heard of him. I have quite a nice collection of studio pottery mugs but all are different potters. I also have a large collection of Mara mugs. Almost all of them are no longer available and feature the rich deep colored glossy glazes which are very different from my studio mugs. I would say the yellow one with the trees is the "imposter". Am I right?

Lol!... wrong...:-) if you look very!!! carefully it really is quite different, and then if you really can't see it I will give you a clue, but not yet!...:-) I would love to see some of your pottery your Mara mugs sound interesting, I love colour and shinny things....:-)
